Books by and about Ex-Pupils

English must have been a well-taught subject at JCS judging by the number of books to have been written or collaborated on by

various pupils and teachers.  Here are a few.

-------------------------------------------------

 AROUND MOLD by David Rowe

Sutton Publishing mid February 2008 ISBN 978-0-7509-4947-7 priced at £12.99.

Publishers blurb 'This fascinating new book presents some of the events and people who have made up the life of the historic market town of Mold. From Roman times the town's strategic position ensured its regular involvement in Border warfare, while the extensive development of mining in the area during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries defined Mold as an industrial town and commercial centre.'

Invizikids by Mike Hallowell

Published by Heart of Albion priced at £12.99

Former pupil and South Shields Gazette columnist explores the curious enigma of imaginary childhood friends including his own.

Mike also has a  page in the Shields Gazette every Thursday entitled Bizarre. As the name implies his writings are based around things that go bump in the night and other unexplained phenomena.

Who know, perhaps Mike will, one day, write tales of ghostly deeds at JCS!

Fully Refrigerated LPG Carriers by Syd Harris

Published by: Witherby. ISBN 1 85609 266 6.

Authors note: I am afraid the book is expensive at £75 but it is aimed at the gas shipping world     rather then ex-JCS folk.
